The Peace Palace – Iyana Ife Davis
When you take the time to create a space that feeds and nourishes your own soul, you learn that this space can be more than just a space for you. In Atlanta, Georgia, a 3 bedroom home with a beautiful backyard and bamboo in the back turned into more than just a space for me and my family but a space for the community. Hardwood floors with the softest of hearts inside. We would sit and talk for hours, inĀ a candlelit living room. We would dance the night away in room filled with the color red. We would cook delicious meals and laugh until our bellies could not take anymore.
There were nights where people would grab pillows and sit on the roof, stare at the fullest of moons and wonder where love came from. Some nights, it was a sanctuary, where people cried and wailed, asking The Creator for guidance. The windows opened up to nature, trees, and a busy avenue with people going nowhere fast. Inside that precious space, we knew we were home and that was all that mattered. It was a place for all people and we affectionately called it The Peace Palace.
