The Rev. Molly Casteel is an ordained teaching elder (minister) in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and currently serves as an Assistant Stated Clerk in the Office of the General Assembly. She previously served as the Associate for Women’s Advocacy with the Presbyterian Mission Agency where she staffed several national level committees and task forces. She was introduced to service at the national level of the PCUSA as a member of the Leadership Team of Presbyterians Affirming Reproductive Options (PARO, a network within the Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association). A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, she co-founded Seminarians Affirming Reproductive Choices (SARC). In her native Oklahoma she worked for 8 years in public health, prevention education and community development before attending seminary. She has served in various board positions on 3 different state affiliates of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice and a term on the national organization’s Council of Governors. She served as Co-Chair of the Justice for Women Working Group of the National Council of Churches for several years. Active in the church from the congregation to the national levels and ecumenically, she believes strongly in faith and diverse Christian community being an impetus for engaging the world where it is.
